Paignton Service Chapel Dedication

Maunders Funeral Services in Paignton held a dedication service of their newlyrefurbished Service Chapel, and William Millar, National President of the National Association of Funeral Directors, travelled from Northern Ireland to attend.

Funeral Director Jenny Brennand said: “The Service Chapel allows us to offer our clients more, as we can hold many different service types there now. We would like to thank Funeral Partners’ management for their support in allowing us to offer this facility.” The dedication of the Service Chapel, led by Celebrants of Paignton, was attended by Mayor of Torbay Gordon Oliver, Regional Development Director at Funeral Partners Peter Dearing, Area Development Manager Phillip Hutchings, members of the clergy, the local community and staff from Pendennis Residential Home. After it concluded a number of ceremonial white doves were released to mark the occasion.

During his visit William Millar met Norman McNamara, who suffers from Lewy Body Dementia. Norman and his wife Elaine established one of the first dementiafriendly communities in the UK and were the inspiration for the Purple Angel dementia awareness campaign, which has a mission to share knowledge and empower those living with dementia.

Jenny Brennand said: “The team at Maunders support Purple Angel and William was really inspired by Norman and the dedication of our team for this cause. “This event was a fantastic way of getting to know the clergy better and we were able to meet the team from the residential home who do so much for the vulnerable members of the community. It was a brilliant day, which was enjoyed by all.”
